National Honor Society
Beal City High School has had a National Honor Society chapter since 1968. We are proud to be a part in continuing the tradition of recognizing exceptional students in our school. As a program for students who are interested in excelling and making a difference, NHS strives to bring out leadership qualities and academic excellence in each student. The National Honor Society is based upon four principles: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS is open to juniors and seniors. Each spring, any sophomore or junior with a cumulative 3.5 GPA is considered to have met the scholarship component of NHS and will be invited to attend an informational meeting about NHS. From there, students who choose to apply are considered by a committee of teachers to determine whether or not they meet the requirements of leadership, service, and character. Students who are selected will be inducted into the Beal City National Honor society in May to become active members for the following year.
The Beal City Chapter of the National Honor Society plans a lot of activities both in our school and the community. They do several community service projects including hosting blood drives, organizing a walk-a-thon, collecting donations for charities, and promoting various community service opportunities throughout the year. You may also see them fundraising in order to raise money for end of year trips that allow students to gain an educational experience through visiting museums, historical landmarks, or other activities.
