My name is Jason Johnston and I am the principal at Beal City Carl D. Mayes Elementary.  This opportunity is the fulfillment of a professional dream for me. I could not be more excited to be an Aggie! Our team at Mayes Elementary strives to meet the individual needs of students, both academically and socially on a daily basis.  I can assure you that when making decisions we will continue to focus on what is best for student learning.

Educational Background

My career in education began as a paraprofessional at Lakeview High School in 1999. Later, after graduating from CMU, I taught middle and high school social studies at Coleman Community Schools and Sacred Heart Academy. For the majority of my career I have been at Central Montcalm Public Schools, serving as a high school social studies teacher and most recently, as a middle school principal. I have also had the opportunity to coach multiple sports and activities including softball, baseball, track, powerlifting, and quiz bowl.

Personal

My wife Jaclyn and I reside in Lake Isabella, just a few miles West of Beal City. We have been together since 1997 and married since 2001. We have 3 amazing children that are the center of our world. We both have multiple degrees from Central Michigan University and are involved in education.

Goal

At Mayes Elementary we will continue to focus on providing the best learning environment possible for our students.  I am passionate about student learning and assure you we will provide a quality education for students on all levels.  I am looking forward to building relationships with you and your children and being a positive role model in your children’s lives.
