Beal City 8th grader Gunnar Maney had the opportunity to compete in the T-Mobile Little League Home Run Derby Championship held in Williamsport, PA on August 22. Here are some fun facts about Gunnar's road to Williamsport:
Gunnar was a member of this year’s District 1 Little League Majors Division Championship Team from Mount Pleasant/UT Little League.
He won the Local T-Mobile Little League Home Run Derby in Midland, Michigan on June 18, 2024 with 33 home runs. His total qualified him for the East Region Finals in Kansas City where 10 boys competed for the 4 qualifying spots to the Championship.
Gunnar earned a spot to compete in the T-Mobile Little League Home Run Derby Championships by qualifying in the top 4 in the T-Mobile Little League Home Run Derby East Regional Final at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
The 4 East Regional qualifiers along with the 4 West Regional qualifiers competed at the Championship. He was one of the 8 boys in the entire United States with the honor of competing for the Championship.
Gunnar made it to the semi-finals with a really good run, including setting a boys Home Run Derby Finals record of hitting a historic 16 consecutive homers. He finished in the top 4 overall.
