Meet the Staff of Beal City South...

Jerry Ward-Coordinator of Alternative Education

I am a 2004 graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor degree in education. I am certified to teach History and Earth Science at the secondary level. I began teaching at Beal City South during the 2005-2006 school year and have been the coordinator at the school since the retirement of the former director, Evelyn Kent. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in educational leadership at Ferris State University. I graduated from Beal City High School in 1981 and worked in private industry for eighteen years before returning to school to become a teacher.

Beal City South has afforded me the opportunity to help some very worthy people achieve success. I take great pride in this career.  Our staff is committed to helping our students advance toward their goals.

My wife Julie and I have two wonderful children who attend Beal City Schools. We reside at Lake Isabella and enjoy spending time on the lake during the summer. Our children are involved in many activities which keep us busy.

Joan Gornicki - Teacher

I began working for Beal City Schools in 1970 and taught mostly math and English until retirement in 2000. My two daughters, Sarah and Laura, graduated from BCHS and both are now teachers. John works at Delfield and we have one grandson, Owen. After six years of not teaching, I applied for the part-time position at the alternative school. I now work individually with students, helping them improve their math and English skills. Though I’m still officially retired, I enjoy being a part-time Aggie!
