P.T.O. MEETING

This month's PTO meeting will take place on Mon, Mar. 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Title classroom.  Laura Burman will be doing a presentation on the "Great Starts" program (a program that promotes early intervention to assist families in preparing children for school).  All parents are invited to attend this meeting.

PARENT - TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent-Teacher conferences will take place on Thursday, march 4, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.  You may schedule a conference between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. (keep in mind that this time block can only accommodate six conferences).  Conferences between 6:00 and 8:00 will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Not all teachers have scheduled conferences, so you may want to call the office to see if it is possible to come before 6:00 p.m.  Please limit your conference to ten minutes.  If you need more time, please schedule time with the teacher at a later date.

KINDERGARTEN PARENT MEETING AND KINDERGARTEN/PRESCHOOL ROUND-UP

We will be holding an informational meeting for the parents of NEW kindergarten students for the 2010 - 2011 school year.  Parents of this year's preschool students DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND this meeting.  The meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 16, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.  Parents will be asked to complete some necessary paperwork and sign up for a Round-Up appointment time.  A copy of your child's immunization record and birth certificate should be turned in at this meeting also.  The Kindergarten teachers and office staff will be available to answer questions parents might have.  Kindergarten/Preschool Round-Up will take place on Wednesday, April 14.  If you have any questions regarding either of these upcoming events, please call the elementary office at 644-2740.

READING RAINBOW

The March Reading Rainbow will be held on Wed., Mar. 24, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  A light supper (soup, bread, cookies and a beverage) will be served at 5:30 until 6:00 p.m.  Crafts and book sharing will run from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.  All Beal City families are invited to join in the fun.

READ-A-THON

On Friday, March 26, students in grades 3 - 6 will be participating in our annual Read-A-Thon.  The informational packet, including a pledge sheet, is attached.  Any pledge money that students collect will be put directly into his/her camp account.  This is an easy way to build up your child's camp account, while promoting the joy of reading.  This will be the last opportunity for 4th - 6th grade students to earn money for this year's camp (May 3 - 7).  After all Read-A-Thon monies are counted and deposited, a notice will be sent home to campers letting them know how much is still owed for camp fees.

END OF 3RD NINE WEEKS

Friday, March 26, is the end of the 3rd marking period.  Report cards will be mailed on the Friday after Spring Break (April 9).  We will be doing a family mailing.  If you have not received your child's report card by Wed., Apr. 14, please notify the elementary office.

WANTED – PRESCHOOLERS FOR 2010 – 2011

Our Beal City Preschool program is accepting names of preschool age children (must be 4 on or before December 1, 2010) for the 2010 – 2011 school year.  Please call the elementary office at 644-2740 if you have a child who would qualify.  If you know of anyone who is interested in enrolling a child in our preschool, please pass this information along to them.  Registration information will be sent out within the next few weeks.
