HEARING SCREENING
As a rule, the Health Department sends technicians to area schools to do vision and hearing screenings. This year's screenings are running behind schedule because new technicians were hired and needed to be trained. On Thursday, May 1 students in grades kindergarten, second and fourth will have their hearing screened. There will be no vision screening done this year. If your child is not scheduled to be screened and you would like a screening for him/her, please call the elementary office at 644-2740. The request will be passed along to the technician.
WALK-A-THON, 2008
The PTO is sponsoring a Walk-A-Thon on Tuesday, May 20 (rain date is Wednesday, May 21). Your child will be bringing home a pledge sheet/information packet on Friday, May 2. This is a fundraiser for our PTO. We have a very generous PTO; they give money to teachers for field trips/supplies, donate money to students going to camp, pay for assemblies, and fund Reading Rainbow, to name a few. The Walk-A-Thon will take place on the Beal City School Track 8:15 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. Pledging will begin on Friday, May 2 and will need to be turned in to teachers by Friday, May 16. Parents and community members are welcome to come up and walk any time during the scheduled hours or you may choose to walk when your child will be participating (see schedule below). Volunteers are needed for supervision of students . If you are able to volunteer, please call Karen Reeves at 989-205-2132 or Tami Chilman at 989-878-1661.

invited to come and enjoy refreshments at 1:00 p.m. prior to the
performance which begins at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Sharrar and our

enjoyable afternoon. See you on May 29!
FIELD DAY
The past few years we have been combining both elementary schools
(Public and St. Joseph) and having our Field Day together. This
year we are making a couple of changes. Kindergarten - 2nd grade
students will be having Field Day at Mayes Elementary School. It
will involve an inflatable, nature walk and fun relays. Third
through sixth graders will go to the K.C. Hall. They will have an
inflatable, relays and a variety of games. Field Day will be held
on Friday, May 30 with a rain date scheduled for Wednesday, June 4.
For both groups it will begin with a sack lunch at noon. A flyer
will be going home with students soon. It will contain more details
and a volunteer request form. Please call the elementary office at
644-2740 or the St. Joseph office at 644-3970 with
questions.
KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION
This year's Kindergarten graduation will take place on Friday, June
6 at 1:00 p.m. in the small gym. Parents and family members are
invited. Kindergarten students may go home with their families
after the ceremony, but they are expected to attend school on June
9 - 11.
SIXTH
GRADE GRADUATION
Mrs. Wentworth and Mr. King have scheduled this year's sixth grade
graduation for Tuesday, June 10. The students will walk down to the
K.C. Hall at noon for a pizza lunch which will be followed by an
afternoon of ball games and other supervised activities.
CAMP HAYO-WENT-HA
Students in grades 4 - 6 will be attending Camp Hayo-Went-Ha the
week of May 5. Each student should have brought home a camp packet
on Friday, April 18. The packet contains a lot of information about
camp and several forms that need to be completed and returned to
school as soon as possible. All forms need to be returned to school
no later than Friday, May 2. All students are expected to go to
camp. If you have any questions about camp or if you have any
concerns about camp fees, please call the elementary office at
644-2740.
