Project PALS visits the Shrine Circus
by Chad Arndt, Leslie Mead and Nick Nethers
Our day started off at 7:30 a.m. as we gathered for the bus. We boarded and started off for the Shriner's Circus in Grand Rapids. The bus ride was fun as the excitement continued to build until we arrived. First, the petting zoo with turtles, cows, llamas, elephants and many other species of wonderful animals.
All of the PALS from big to small enjoyed this. The circus started off with a cage full of rare cats. They jumped over obstacles and through hoops of fire. It was breathtaking. There were many other highlights: Afghan Hounds that jumped to high heights, hilarious Rhesus monkeys and even trapeze artists. The most amazing feat by far was the crossbows; two people shot a crossbow, which triggered a chain reaction of other bows, which in turn fired two arrows at apples on the archers' heads. It ended with an awesome feat where a man was shot out of a cannon.
After the circus ended, we boarded the bus and headed for a delicious meal at McDonalds. The day ended at 3:00 when we arrived back at Beal City. This was an amazing experience enjoyed by everyone from second graders to adults.
